Quality Tax & Bookkeeping Services, Inc. is owned and operated by Susan Lastowski. A graduate of Bates College with her graduate work done at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Sue had worked previously as an auditor at Baystate Medical Center, and had subcontracted to various area CPA firms. In 1986, she decided to create her own business. She worked the business part-time while holding down a full-time teaching position in the Holyoke Public School System. Over the years, through word-of-mouth referrals, (the best kind of advertising!) the business grew. In 2000, Sue left her teaching job to attend to the now full-time responsibilities of her tax business.
It was in 2000 when Marjorie Camerlin came to work at QT&B, Marj had been a business owner herself, running a successful home daycare. In fact, she was originally one of Sue's clients. When she heard that Sue was looking to expand, she applied for the job. With her accounting and business background from Central Connecticut State University, Marj was obviously a natural fit for QT&B. She has been with the company ever since.
Together these two women have nurtured QT&B into a 2400-client operation. They attend yearly seminars, upgrade software and equipment as often as necessary, and receive up-to-date tax information from more than ten sources. They are dedicated to provide a comprehensive, customized approach to each client's financial and tax needs, making sure that any tax deduction currently available is part of their clients' game plan.
